Shaping strategy & steering growth as an M&E Managing Director.
This is a rare opportunity to take the reins of a business that’s already solid, respected, and primed for its next chapter.
You’re not walking into a rescue mission. You’re walking into something already good; with the freedom to make it great.
Job Title: M&E Managing Director
Salary: £90,000 - £130,000 + profit share & package
Location: Warrington
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
About the Company
Our client is a specialist Building Management Systems (BMS) and M&E contractor based in the North-West.
Over the last 25+ years, they’ve built a name for themselves across sectors like education, healthcare, commercial, and industrial. You’ve probably worked with a business like this before - quietly excellent, deeply respected, and often chosen for the toughest jobs because they just get it done.
Right now, they’re looking for a new M&E Managing Director. Not to overhaul things, but to take what’s already working and elevate it.
This isn’t about a vanity title or parking yourself in a boardroom.
It’s about being the person who sees the whole game, from the sharp end of operations to the long arc of strategy, and brings it all together with confidence, clarity, and care.
Key Responsibilities
Sure, it’s a senior leadership role. But the magic lies in how hands-on you’re willing to be.
You’ll be responsible for guiding the direction of the business; commercially, strategically, operationally. You’ll also be visible, present, involved. People will know your name and not just your job title.
Your day-to-day will include:
Steering the senior management team and nurturing leadership across the business
Overseeing financial performance and helping the numbers tell a story that makes sense
Championing company culture, making sure values aren’t just written on the wall
Keeping client relationships strong and building new ones where it matters
Spotting opportunities in new sectors or regions and deciding whether to go for them
Supporting technical and operational teams without micro-managing
Helping shape future bids, contracts, and commercial plans that are realistic and ambitious
Skills & Experience Required
This isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s about the kind of person you are.
Let’s just say you’ve earned your stripes. You’ve probably been in senior roles before, maybe even MD-level. But titles aside, you understand how the M&E and BMS world works: the people, the pressures, the way success is built project by project, relationship by relationship.
You’ve got:
Strong commercial acumen
Clear, confident leadership style
Real-world operational understanding (not just spreadsheets and slide decks)
Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or BMS sectors
A calm, credible presence that earns trust from teams, clients, and stakeholders
There's bonus points if you’ve already helped a business transition - maybe through succession, diversification, or strategic growth.
Benefits
First off, you’ll be working with a team that gets things done without the ego.
People are grounded, honest, and take real pride in their work.
There’s no puffed-up hierarchy here, just a shared commitment to quality.
You’ll have the chance to genuinely shape the future of the business. That’s not just a line - it’s a real opportunity to lead, build, and grow something that already has an enviable foundation.
The package is highly competitive, tailored to reflect the seniority and scope of the role.
More importantly, the trust and autonomy you’ll be given? Hard to find elsewhere.
How to Apply
If this sounds like your kind of move—and you're ready to step into a leadership role that combines strategic thinking with grounded decision-making—then we’d love to hear from you.
This is a standout opportunity with a long-standing business that's ready for its next chapter.
The question is: are you?
